About The Position

Under the supervision of the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, the Lead Fleet Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the fleet of vehicles and supervision of the designated fleet maintenance mechanics tasked with performing preventative and corrective maintenance on that fleet of vehicles, including but not limited to freight delivery trucks, forklifts, automobiles, scissor lifts, boom lifts, mobile cranes, golf carts, and grounds maintenance equipment at Walker Forge & Precision Thermal Processing.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree from an accredited technical college in Diesel Equipment Technology or Diesel Truck Technology or a technical diploma from an accredited technical college for Diesel Equipment Technician, Diesel Engine Technician, or Diesel Truck Technician.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy trucks, forklifts, construction equipment, or agricultural equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine systems, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, blueprints, parts diagrams, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, and preventative maintenance documents.

  • Additional external or internal training in specialized areas as appropriate.
