About The Position

Field Engineering Lead responsible for significant tasks to support installation, grooming, operation, maintenance, and modification of complex electronic systems installed on land and sea-based platforms. The primary work for this position will be as a lead in a strong team supporting the Shipboard Data System installed on US and UK Navy submarines, as well as flight test instrumentation used onboard US and UK Navy ballistic missile submarines for flight test events. Responsible to run projects and processes within the Cape Canaveral System Test group, achieving operational targets for electronics systems assembly, assessment, testing, and installation for the Navy and other Government customers. Occasionally support operational Navy testing events as a watch stander providing safety information and data collection. Responsible to make short-notice independent assessments and decisions for technical areas of responsibility, and during critical and time-sensitive Navy flight tests. Requires the employee to make decisions with matters of significance on a daily basis for the organization. Assigned tasking requires communication within the Integrated Technical Solutions and Range and Test Solutions groups, as well as coordination with external supporting contractors and Navy customers. Requires guiding, coaching, and training other employees on areas of responsibility for project execution. Requires discretion and independent judgement in support of electronics systems, with skills that include general analysis, problem solving, procedure/process development, and innovations. Requires short and long-distance travel to provide contracted services on a varying schedule. Requires supporting various tasks at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station when not on travel, to include inventory control, production builds, repairs, systems grooming, on-the-job training, mentoring others, maintaining log books, filing reports, and other tasking as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree and minimum 9 years of prior related experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance.
  • 4 years of experience with analog and digital test equipment to troubleshoot, test and/or validate complex electronic systems.
  • 4 years of experience conducting electronic troubleshooting and repair with quality assurance workmanship skills.
  • 4 years of experience conducting electronic systems installation and testing.
