About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Lead Technician to oversee daily shop operations, lead production teams, and support high-quality fabrication work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone with strong technical fabrication expertise, supervisory experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. This position serves as a critical bridge between production, engineering, and management while helping drive efficiency, mentorship, and on-time project execution.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in metal fabrication, welding, assembly, or manufacturing
  • Previous lead, supervisory, or shop management experience
  • Strong ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication equipment and shop machinery
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and maintain production schedules
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • CNC, welding, or advanced fabrication expertise
  • Experience in quality control and process improvement
  • Knowledge of OSHA and manufacturing safety standards

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and mentor fabrication technicians and shop personnel
  • Assign daily workloads and manage project priorities to meet production schedules
  • Provide hands-on leadership while fostering a collaborative, accountable team environment
  • Support employee development through coaching and cross-training
  • Review blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings to guide fabrication and assembly work
  • Oversee daily production activities to ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Perform and support complex fabrication tasks including welding, cutting, assembly, and machine operation
  • Operate and maintain shop equipment including welding machines, CNC machinery, shears, press brakes, and saws
  • Perform and oversee quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and continuous improvement
  • Enforce OSHA standards, shop safety procedures, and proper PPE usage
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operating safely
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, tools, and supplies
  • Coordinate purchasing needs with management and project teams
  • Support efficient resource planning to minimize downtime
