About The Position

LMI is seeking a skilled Lead Event Planner at a client location in the National Capital Region. A successful Event Planner will demonstrate competency in project execution, leadership critical thinking, relationship management, and project execution while upholding the highest standard of ethical behavior. This position requires on-site support at The Pentagon a minimum of three (3) days per week. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university field (Four years of event planning experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree).
  • Final TOP SECRET Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in event planning.
  • Executive level support experience within a federal agency.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and be able to use initiative, judgement, and creativity when engaging senior level customers.
  • Knowledge of managing high-level U.S. and foreign delegations, U.S. and diplomatic protocol, and military customs and courtesies.
  • Knowledge of Official Representation Funds processing requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Access.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience executing events inside the Pentagon or in the National Capital Region.
  • Knowledge of options within the Pentagon for catering, photography and conference space.
  • Experience/knowledge of policies and procedures for submission of Official Representation Funds (ORF) requests.
  • Experience with entry and exit procedures, including proper documentation, for Pentagon guests.
  • Understanding of International cultural considerations when developing a Washington based visitor program.
  • Foreign Distinguished Visitors Training at the Protocol School of Washington or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of event planners responsible for organizing events and conferences for national and international visitors to a U.S. government office.
  • Organize meals, tours, programs, documents for distribution, audio-visual needs, transportation, translation services and accommodations as required.
  • Provide advice on, review, submit, and track requests for Official Representation Funds (ORF) in support of DoD events involving international visitors.
  • Manage government gift locker for international visitors.
  • Work in conjunction with a government contracting officer, government sponsors of events, and existing protocol offices to provide support.
  • Support other team event planners in documenting best practices and practical guidance in an Event Planning guide for on-going use by the government office.
