About The Position

The Lead Estate Host is responsible for promoting wine sales and ensuring an exceptional brand experience for consumers through superior product knowledge, hospitality, and customer service. This role focuses on achieving monthly sales goals while providing excellent hospitality to consumers and the trade. The Lead Estate Host will act as a knowledge resource for other Estate Hosts and develop relationships with clients.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Strong computer proficiency and data entry experience.
  • Two plus years of related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to work weekends and flexible schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors to the Tasting Room and pours wines for tasting.
  • Ensures every visitor has a positive wine tasting experience and leaves with a high impression of the wines.
  • Accurately describes wines, winemaking techniques, appellations, unique aspects of wine, and winery history.
  • Presents in-depth knowledge of the wines, vineyards, brand, and winery.
  • Acts as a knowledge resource for Estate Hosts.
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships with clients.
  • Creates and projects high standards of hospitality and positive customer relations.
  • Takes initiative for ongoing self-development in wines, brands, hospitality, and sales techniques.
  • Participates in company-sponsored wine education and developmental opportunities.
  • Handles opening and closing duties.
  • Effectively resolves customer conflicts or refers them to management.
  • Accurately handles purchasing transactions, including operating the cash register, accounting for daily sales, and processing returns/discounts.
  • Opens and closes the business day, acting as a Tasting Room Supervisor when needed.
  • Provides general tourist information and concierge-type services (e.g., making restaurant reservations, assisting with appointments at other wineries).
  • Conducts tours as needed.
  • Assists with special winery hospitality events.
  • Washes and polishes glassware for the Tasting Room.
  • Represents the winery at outside functions as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
