Trinity Rail is hiring for a Lead Equipment Technician over the MRO, Scheduling, Planning and purchasing at our Jonesboro plant. In this role you will use blueprints, schematics, small/power tools and electronic test equipment to perform a variety of maintenance tasks and determine causes of operating problems in areas including but not limited to plumbing, electrical systems/components, HVAC, carpentry, electrical fixtures/switches/power sources and mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or a GED equivalent, technical certificate preferred
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Effective communication skills with demonstrated technical aptitude
  • Proficient computer skills with focus on Microsoft Office Suite.
  • EAM experience a plus
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience with maintenance level inventory
  • The ability to read blueprints
  • May require working above ground (15 ft. or more)
  • Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights.
  • May require working in narrow or confined workspaces for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Lead Team by managing the MRO program to include purchasing, Scheduling/planning maintenance activities, and managing inventory by using our CMMS program.
  • Communicate across different levels, departments and with contractors/vendors.
  • Understand the requirements of complex repairs on production equipment motors and mechanical components including basic pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Must be able to wire electrical cabinets. Troubleshoots electrical problems, performs preventative maintenance and testing on electrical wiring and components
  • Assist in completion of tasks to include ensuring required equipment, parts, support, etc. is available in order to meet deadlines.
  • Plan, schedule and assessing preventative maintenance and electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic repairs to production and mechanical equipment, machinery and components.
  • Determine causes of operating problems, consults schematics and orders replacement parts. Performs high voltage electrical repairs (e.g. controls, relays).
  • Assists with installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies production electronic components, parts, switch panels etc.
  • May test new equipment, troubleshoots operation, and makes minor adjustments to equipment.
  • Maintains and completes all required records.
  • Follows all safety rules and practices.
  • Trains lower levels
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
