This position directs the work for the equipment operator - Fuels and involves operating fuel-handling equipment and performing related coal yard activities at a steam generating station. Responsibilities include operating various fuel and ash-handling equipment such as conveyors, rotary car dumper, stacker/reclaimer, tractors, bulldozers, cranes, barge tower, locomotives, crushers, ash trucks, and shredding equipment. The role also entails keeping equipment lubricated, performing minor maintenance, ensuring coal handling equipment is clean and operating properly, and maintaining pertinent coal yard records. Additionally, the Lead Equipment Operator - Fuels performs duties of an equipment operator - Operations, including hold carding activity in the coal yard, assisting in maintaining railway tracks and fuel handling structures, spotting and loading or unloading coal or ash cars or barges, and assisting in switching railway cars and trucks. The operator will also operate cranes, bulldozers, and trucks for purposes other than fuel-handling when required, perform ordinary maintenance work when not operating, and adhere to all established procedures and safety practices. Other similar, related, and incidental duties may also be required.
