About The Position

GFL Environmental is looking for a Lead Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Hinton, AB! The Lead Heavy Equipment Operator will assist and coordinate the day-to-day field operations to ensure quality service and product line efficiency. Provide leadership to site staff and promote a positive employee/employer relationship. They will review and process day to day operations, provide guidance, and plan and delegate job duties as required.

Requirements

Experience operating heavy equipment.
Willing to work flexible hours.
Experience working with Front End Loaders and Dozers and Compactors.
Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Nice To Haves

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to work independently, and has landfill experience (considered an asset).
Previous operations, transportation, waste management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate compactor, dozer, and loader to screen, push, pack, and cover waste.
Assist with sustaining a productive and motivated workforce by screening, selecting, training, developing and evaluating personnel required to meet service commitments.
Ensure operators are performing task knowledgeably, productively and safely.
Minor equipment maintenance, basic mechanical work, and completing paperwork (pre/post-trips, FLHAs, incident reports, etc.).
Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all.
Ensure company policy, systems, and industry related training is delivered to all staff.
Working knowledge of equipment to manage solid waste and/or cover materials.
Other duties as assigned.
