About The Position

Lead the design of transmission lines from 69kV to 765kV, serving as a subject matter specialist in 500kV and 765kV transmission lines. Mentor and train less experienced design team members, coordinate design activities to ensure installations and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements, and prepare clear, concise reports and studies that meet client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats. Independently review others’ calculations, drawings, and transmission line models developed in PLS-CADD, and adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.

The role has a hybrid work arrangement, with three days per week expected in the office and the option to work remotely for two days. A generous relocation package may be available depending on location. Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor U.S. work authorization for this position.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12 years of transmission design experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design.
• Familiarity with electrical considerations for 765kV transmission lines.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, developing conceptual designs, determining design basis, selecting equipment and materials, and preparing and assembling calculations and specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 765kV.
• Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

Nice To Haves

• Construction experience.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS.
• Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued where relevant, but is not required unless specifically identified elsewhere in the job description.
