About The Position

Lead the design of transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 765kV and serve as a subject matter specialist in 500kV and 765kV transmission lines. Mentor and train less experienced design team members, coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements, and prepare reports and studies that communicate technical information clearly and meet client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats. Independently review others’ calculations, drawings, and transmission line models prepared in PLS-CADD, and adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.

The position follows a hybrid work schedule and requires working in the office three days per week. Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor U.S. work authorization for this position. The stated compensation range is $134,546–$205,557; eligible positions may also include participation in a yearly discretionary bonus.

Requirements

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12 years of transmission design experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design.
• Familiarity with electrical considerations for 765kV transmission lines.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, developing conceptual designs, determining design basis, selecting equipment and materials, and preparing and assembling calculations and specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 765kV.
• Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

Nice To Haves

• PE license.
• PMP certification.
• Construction experience.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS.
• Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued where relevant, but is not required unless identified elsewhere in the job description.
