As a Lead Distribution Engineer, you can expect to develop work packages for various projects including OH, UG, URD, Conventional UG, Network UG, Make Ready, and Street Light projects. This role involves utilizing customer GIS and WMS systems such as SAP and Bentley Expert Designer. You will review work provided by the client, assess scope requirements, and be comfortable in both field and office settings, trained in customer engineering and construction standards. Responsibilities include supporting pole structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and calculations of electric demand and fault currents. You will also develop estimated costs for projects, create Bills of Materials (BOM), coordinate conflicting utilities, and handle other field engineering design requirements. This includes assessing and developing design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, developing work permits, managing easements and ROW applications, and designing mainline vault medium voltage switchgear, network systems, and distribution system protection and coordination. The role also involves performing reviews of work by other engineers, conducting root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles, and complying with Leidos and Client Safety requirements, as well as design and quality expectations. Customer/job-related travel is anticipated and will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates. Overnight travel may be required (15-25% travel).
