About The Position

The Town of Prescott Valley invites you to apply for the position of Lead Deputy Court Clerk – Magistrate Court. This position provides general clerical and specialized legal support work to the Magistrate Court, general public, and attorneys, providing professional, and efficient customer service. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a legal support or similar function with lead experience.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background.
  • Ability to type 50 WPM.
  • Ability to accurately file documents.
  • Ability to read statutory language regarding administrative details of the legal process.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
  • Associates degree or paralegal certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first line customer service to internal and external customers; greet, receive and screen visitors and customers, addressing and resolving customer questions as able, and referring complex inquiries, requests, or complaints to appropriate staff.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of new team members
  • Coordinates cross-training opportunities.
  • Coaches and mentors’ staff to meet goals and maintain motivation.
  • Monitors workload and assigns duties to ensure timely completion of incoming work.
  • Provides performance feedback for employee evaluations.
  • Assists office personnel in solving complex problems that are above the knowledge base of clerks.
  • Performs the duties of the Court Manager during an absence and always provide support.
  • Provides back-up assistance to other Department personnel as needed.
  • Assist the public, attorneys and other agencies with information, filings, and Court rules.
  • Assist with daily case management of Court files, including creating and maintaining computer records, and complying with statutes.
  • Assist the magistrate in court by recording and dispensing information as requested, calling jurors, and providing related clerical support.
  • Process invoices, receipt payments for fines, fees and forfeitures using court-approved financial software.
  • Maintain electronic, paper filing, record systems to provide easy access to records and information; provide retention of records as required by Town and State policies.
