OluKai, melin, Roark (Tradewind Services) Lead Data Engineer
About The Position
Tradewind Services provides shared services across Archipelago Companies’ portfolio of brands—OluKai, Melin, and Roark—and its international subsidiaries, Arch-UK and Arch-EU. The Lead Data Engineer owns the data infrastructure end to end, including building pipelines that bring data in from across the business, administering the Snowflake environment, and serving as the organization’s subject-matter expert on how its data fits together. This is a senior, high-ownership role responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, Snowflake environments, data models, and governance practices that support reporting and analysis across brands and subsidiaries. The role partners with marketing, e-commerce, wholesale, and finance teams to translate data needs into reliable pipelines and models.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of senior-level data engineering experience, including a track record of owning a data platform end to end.
- Deep, hands-on Snowflake experience, including warehouse architecture, performance and cost optimization, RBAC, Snowpipe, and Streams/Tasks.
- Proven experience building ETL/ELT pipelines from a range of source types, including advertising platforms, analytics and tracking tools, ERPs, relational databases, and spreadsheet-based sources.
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines from scratch.
- Python experience for scripting, pipeline orchestration, and custom integrations.
- Experience designing data warehouse models, such as dimensional or star schemas, for reporting and analytics.
- Strong communication skills and comfort serving as a trusted source of truth for other teams.
- Actively seeks AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies, adapts quickly to use them for improved productivity, deeper insights, and more effective processes, and exercises sound judgment while maintaining compliance with organizational standards.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Domo or a similar BI/reporting platform.
- Experience with retail or consumer products data, including wholesale, direct-to-consumer/e-commerce, or inventory.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt Cloud, or Prefect.
- Experience consolidating data across multiple brands, business units, or entities.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that bring data into Snowflake from business systems and sources, including Shopify, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google BigQuery, ERP flat-file exports, transactional databases, Google Docs, and Excel.
- Own and administer the Snowflake environment, including architecture, performance tuning, cost and credit management, security, and access controls.
- Maintain code in GitHub with version control and structure that supports AI-assisted development and iteration.
- Stand up new Snowflake instances and environments as the organization’s data needs grow.
- Build and maintain data models that support reporting and analysis across brands and subsidiaries.
- Establish data quality, testing, and monitoring practices to identify pipeline failures and data issues before stakeholders find them.
- Partner with marketing, e-commerce, wholesale, and finance teams to understand data needs and translate them into reliable pipelines and models.
- Own data governance, including naming conventions, access control, and documentation of sources and transformations.
- Serve as the organization’s subject-matter expert on data architecture and lineage.
