Requirements

  • 3+ years of custom metal fabrication or structural welding experience (vocational trade degree or technical certification is a strong plus).
  • Proven track record safely setting up, adjusting, and operating heavy forming, shearing, and plasma-cutting machinery.
  • Advanced ability to read complex engineering blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and apply practical shop math (decimals, fractions, and geometry).
  • Strong communication skills required to train junior fabricators, troubleshoot design challenges, and partner with operations leaders.
  • Physical capability to work comfortably in a non-climate-controlled production facility, backed by rock-solid daily attendance and a safety-first mindset.
  • Must meet ITAR requirements (US Citizen or Permanent Resident) and reside within a comfortable daily driving distance of the Waukesha, WI area.

Responsibilities

  • Build, modify, and fit specialized components, heavy structural fixtures, and custom production assemblies from the ground up.
  • Set up and run a wide suite of metalworking equipment, including industrial press brakes, heavy shears, plasma cutters, and multi-process welding machines.
  • Repair complex shop tooling, diagnose structural wear, and design custom internal holding fixtures to streamline production flow.
  • Perform precision material lining and refractory tasks, including mixing, pouring, and forming specialized compounds during system rebuilds.
  • Spend 95% of your time actively crafting parts and 5% managing team workflows, organizing project schedules, and reviewing upcoming jobs.
  • Provide technical guidance and proactive safety mentorship to junior fabricators to maintain a high-quality, zero-defect shop floor environment.
