About The Position

The Lead Custodian supports custodial operations at an assigned worksite, including performing cleaning tasks and helping operate custodial equipment. The role assists with preparing and documenting performance counseling and training programs for staff and people supported in custodial work. It monitors supplies and equipment, communicates needs to the immediate supervisor, and provides leadership through punctuality, reliable attendance, strong communication, and accurate documentation. The Lead Custodian conducts or ensures daily site safety inspections, attends required training, and follows agency policies and procedures, including CQL, Justice Center, HIPAA, and Corporate Compliance regulations. The position serves as site supervisor and coordinates custodial work during the Project Manager’s absence, while training and supervising staff and people supported at the designated worksite. Duties may change based on business or contract needs.

Requirements

1–2 years of janitorial experience.
Valid and acceptable driver’s license maintained at all times.
Must undergo a criminal background check and pass required background clearances.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Able to move up and down stairs without difficulty and work on feet for prolonged periods.
Able to understand and translate labels and instructions on chemicals and equipment, as well as Safety Data Sheets.
Knowledge of the use and maintenance of light and heavy custodial equipment.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of supervisory experience; preferred but not required.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing and documenting performance counseling and custodial training programs for staff and people supported.
Forward supply and equipment needs to the immediate supervisor and monitor their use at assigned worksites.
Provide leadership by example through punctuality, strong communication, reliable attendance, and accurate documentation of incidents and training.
Assist with operating custodial equipment and cleaning assigned areas.
Perform custodial work including floor maintenance with high- and low-speed equipment, carpet cleaning, trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, restroom disinfection, stripping and waxing tile floors, and window washing.
Conduct or ensure daily safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure equipment is used safely and properly.
Attend and satisfactorily complete required training.
Adhere to agency policies and procedures and comply with CQL, Justice Center, HIPAA, and Corporate Compliance regulations.
Support the agency’s goals, objectives, philosophy, and values.
Serve as site supervisor and coordinate custodial work during the Project Manager’s absence.
Train and supervise staff and people supported at the designated worksite.
Perform other duties as business dictates.
