About The Position

The Lead CSP Technician performs duties necessary for the proper decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution, and documentation of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. The role also participates in people-management activities and helps monitor unit operations and team performance.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of experience in sterile processing or equivalent.
Required certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD), Certified Endoscope Preprocessor from HSPA, or Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) from HSPA.

Responsibilities

Clean and decontaminate reusable equipment, instruments, and supplies manually and mechanically.
Assess supplies required for prescribed standard surgical procedures and set up case carts.
Maintain inventory and ensure proper equipment-handling processes.
Monitor, read, document, and interpret parameters for all types of sterilizers to ensure proper function.
Perform emergency response duties consistent with provided training and hospital policy.
Participate in people-management activities for unit team members, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews.
Monitor unit operations and provide input on individual performance through feedback and recommendations.
Assemble instruments in trays according to established tray listings for issue, storage, or further processing, and ensure proper packing according to policy.
