CSP Technician II
About The Position
The Franciscan Health Central Sterile Processing (CSP) Technician II performs and participates in the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. The technician carries out these essential functions in accordance with established procedures, policies, and regulations. The role also supports environmental maintenance and inventory management in sterile processing, the operating room, and equipment storage areas. It helps ensure equipment functions properly and that departmental quality, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards are maintained.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of sterile processing experience or equivalent preferred.
- One of the listed credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from HSPA; Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from CBSPD; Certified Endoscope Preprocessor from HSPA; or Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) from HSPA.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree preferred.
- One year of sterile processing experience or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform environmental maintenance duties and assist in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and equipment storage areas.
- Verify equipment functions properly; requisition maintenance, repair, or replacement; and remove defective equipment.
- Monitor biological and chemical wash solutions for quality and consistency during decontamination.
- Decontaminate and sterilize instruments, medical supplies, and equipment; assemble, wrap, and sterilize instrument trays.
- Sort mismatched instrument sets, trays, and medical equipment and make them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner.
- Assist with maintaining departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards.
- Monitor inventory of instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment; restock, label, and maintain inventory; submit requisitions; and collect and distribute supplies and equipment.
