About The Position

Generations at Applewood in Matteson, IL, has an immediate opening for an Experienced Cook. This position has an 8-hour shift, either mornings or afternoon/evenings. Must have Food Service Sanitation Certification and be open to taking a cook's test. Good prep skills a must! EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A HEALTHCARE FACILITY A MUST! You'll work full time for a week or two for Orientation then as needed mornings or afternoons. We offer $20-21 per hour, and Opportunity for Advancement! Plus, you'll be working with our Food Service Supervisor. Requirements

  • Must have never cooked in a healthcare facility (Long-Term Care Facilities)
  • Must have Serve Safe Sanitation Certification
  • Must be able to interpret Resident Diet Cards; speak and read English fluently
  • Have a stable work history and have excellent references
  • Must have ServSafe Certification
  • Must be able to use DiningRD Diet program
  • Must be eligible for hire based on the IDPH Healthcare Worker Registry; may require fingerprinting
  • Must follow written and oral instructions concerning dietary methods and the preparation of foods and beverages
  • Familiar with seasonings, cooking times and sanitation requirements
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Professional and personable; flexible and have a go-with-the-flow attitude
  • Must have compassion, tolerance and understanding of older adults and their families
  • Have a desire to grow and learn new techniques and skills

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Process new diet cards and print daily
  • Print Menu spreadsheets, work schedules and cleaning schedules - post in kitchen
  • Must check Temperature logs including 3-compartment sink, Sanitation buckets, Refrigerator and Cooler, Dish Machine temp logs, cooking and serving temp logs
  • Follow standardized recipes in food preparation
  • Inspect special dietary trays to assure they are correct
  • Assist dietary in special events such as holidays and BBQs
  • Assist in receiving and check in of deliveries of food and supplies
  • Must do a daily kitchen round, using 10-minute walk-through form
  • Follow work/cleaning schedules
