About The Position

The beautiful Signia by Hilton La Cantera Resort and Spa is looking for a Lead Cook to join their culinary team at Primero Cantina! Set in the heart of San Antonio’s Hill Country, Signia by Hilton La Cantera is a modern luxury resort known for elevated hospitality, high‑volume culinary operations, and a strong commitment to chef‑driven food. It’s a fast‑paced, professional kitchen environment with room to learn, grow, and shine. Tucked within the resort lies Primero Cantina, a modern Mexican restaurant celebrating bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and elevated coastal-inspired cuisine where guests can enjoy the views of the Texas Hill Country. Primero Cantina motivates cooks the chance play a key role in executing scratch-made dishes while upholding high culinary and hospitality standards in a fast-paced, guest-focused setting!

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of restaurant line cook experience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an entry‑level leadership role is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items according to designated recipes and quality standards
  • Create daily and weekly prep lists to support service needs
  • Delegate prep items and tasks to cooks and kitchen teams efficiently
  • Train and onboard new staff and cooks on kitchen operations, procedures, and SOPs
  • Perform line checks and ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation standards at all times
  • Maintain accurate daily prep logs and proper labeling for walk‑in coolers and storage areas
  • Manage guest orders in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure knowledge of menu and all food products
  • Stock and maintain designated food station(s)
  • Visually inspect all food sent from the kitchen
  • Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures according to federal, state, local and company regulations
  • Prepare requisitions for supplies and food items, as needed
