About The Position

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Lead Cook position. The Lead Cook is responsible for safely preparing, cooking, and presenting meals according to hospital recipes and menus for patients, staff, and visitors. The Lead Cook will train new staff and provide guidance and assistance for existing staff regarding kitchen operations. This position backs up the Manager of Dietary/Food Services in their absence.

Requirements

Experience as a cook in an institutional setting is preferred.
Must be comfortable with scratch cooking, including fresh ingredients, and attention to detail and quality.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in order to operate food service equipment and follow direction.
Must be able to complete assigned tasks in order to provide an efficient, safe, sanitary, attractive and orderly facility.

Responsibilities

Safely preparing, cooking, and presenting meals according to hospital recipes and menus for patients, staff, and visitors.
Training new staff and providing guidance and assistance for existing staff regarding kitchen operations.
Backing up the Manager of Dietary/Food Services in their absence.
