About The Position

The City of Hanford is seeking to fill two (2) Part-Time Lead Concession Attendant vacancies in the Recreation and Community Services Department. Under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator, the Lead Concession Attendant oversees the daily operations of concession stands within the Recreation and Community Services Department. This position serves as the on-site lead responsible for supervising staff, ensuring efficient food service operations, maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, and delivering high-quality customer service. The Lead Concession Attendant acts as the primary point of contact during assigned shifts and ensures smooth, safe, and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in food service, concessions, retail, or related operations, including cash handling and customer service responsibilities.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of principles of food service operations and basic kitchen safety.
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures and basic accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in food service or customer service.
  • Experience in ordering inventory or supplies.
  • Experience handling cash or operating a point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Current Food Handler’s Certificate.
  • Ability to assist with ordering food, beverages, and supplies through designated vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise concession stand staff during assigned shifts.
  • Assign tasks and ensure proper staffing coverage based on demand.
  • Open and close concession operations, including cash handling, reconciliation, and securing facilities.
  • Train, mentor, and provide direction for part-time staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Monitor food preparation and service to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Manage inventory, track usage, and coordinate restocking of food and supplies.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve issues professionally.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of concession areas, equipment, and storage.
  • Ensure staff follow safety procedures and department policies.
  • Communicate operational needs, incidents, and supply issues to supervisors.
  • Provide input regarding staffing needs, scheduling recommendations, and employee performance.
  • Perform all duties of a Concession Attendant as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
