If you are an engineering professional looking for an opportunity to innovate and grow, Vilter by Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! As a Lead Compressor Design Engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and follow project(s) until completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum of 10 years of mechanical experience (rotating machinery – preferably in compressor design) and hands-on mechanical experience.
  • Experience using 3D and 2D design computer programs like Inventor/AutoCAD, proficient in mechanical and thermodynamic calculations
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, regulatory codes, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and effectively presenting information, including responding to questions from the field sales force, customers, and other employees of the company
  • Knowledge and ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, including the ability to develop/use calculation software
  • Established practical problem-solving skills showing the skills to be able to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to operate a variety of engineering tools and have a creative mind
  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop compressor and/or package units, meeting engineering specifications while ensuring the meeting of company production and quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Develop programs that completely and adequately test Vilter products under varying conditions using established engineering concepts.
  • Lead & Manage projects from inception to completion and ensure proper engineering principles and applications are followed.
  • Work hands-on assembling and disassembling compressors and/or components in the lab.
  • Review drawings and make recommendations/develop standards to improve design, reduce costs, and/or increase production efficiency, verify, evaluate, and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Assist in pre-job planning, scheduling, and management.
  • Participate and Lead as appropriate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve problems and ensure continuous improvements in the level of quality.
  • Analyze indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
  • Develop & Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method, and use computer and software to record, analyze, verify, and/or communicate results and recommendations.
  • Complete and maintain all required reports, paperwork, documentation, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping procedures and company quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Travel in the US and overseas up to 10% of the time after completing the necessary training.
