About The Position

Anduril’s Maritime Division is hiring a Lead Communications Engineer to own the communications subsystem for a maritime autonomous vehicle. Reporting to the Cognitive Systems Lead, this role leads a team covering beyond-line-of-sight satellite, line-of-sight RF, and acoustic communications. The engineer defines how the vehicle maintains command-and-control links during long-range autonomous operations in contested maritime environments. The role combines technical design and leadership: setting objectives, building cross-functional teams, and driving design, analysis, integration, and testing to completion. The position supports prototype integration, at-sea testing, and EMI/EMC qualification, with travel of up to 25% to test sites and vendor facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in RF communications, SATCOM, or underwater acoustics.
  • Experience with link budget analysis and communications system design.
  • Familiarity with military communications standards and waveforms.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with maritime or subsea communications systems.
  • Working knowledge of acoustic modem technology and underwater communications.
  • Experience with SATCOM terminal integration, such as Iridium, MUOS, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with COMSEC and communications security requirements.
  • Experience in defense or maritime robotics.

Responsibilities

  • Own communications architecture across BLOS, LOS, and acoustic domains.
  • Drive antenna and transducer selection, integration, and qualification.
  • Define link budgets, data rates, latency requirements, and waveform selection.
  • Own SATCOM integration for beyond-line-of-sight command and control.
  • Lead acoustic communications design for submerged operations.
  • Define LOS RF solutions for surface and near-surface operations.
  • Interface with mission systems on command-and-control data requirements and network architecture.
  • Lead and mentor IC3/4 engineers across communications sub-disciplines.
  • Support prototype integration, at-sea testing, and EMI/EMC qualification.
  • Travel up to 25% to test sites and vendor facilities.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits package, available at little to no cost to employees.
