The Lead Clinical Nurse (LCN) in the Women's Health Clinic provides guidance and direction to professional employees and ancillary staff under the Nurse Executive. This role ensures the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated and integrated into team strategies, goals, and work products. The LCN identifies, distributes, and balances workload, provides performance coaching, and identifies training needs for the team. They monitor and report on work progress, communicate with the Nurse Executive for resources and decisions, and maintain a professional and caring attitude with patients, families, healthcare providers, and other departments. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a positive workplace environment and discouraging hostile behavior. The LCN is responsible for maintaining professional knowledge and proficiency in their specialty area through continuing education. They perform clinical nursing duties, including patient interviews, health assessments, developing care plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, documenting patient care, and administering medications and therapeutic measures. The LCN is clinically responsible for the independent management of patients, utilizing Evidence-based Guidelines for Practice. They participate in the on-call schedule, lead process improvement initiatives, and serve on hospital committees related to patient care. Additionally, the LCN completes all yearly Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required training and assists in promoting compliance with CMS standards. Other duties as assigned.
