About The Position

The Lead Center Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading the daily maintenance, safety, and upkeep of assigned Early Years Learning Center(s). This position serves as the lead maintenance resource for the organization by coordinating maintenance activities, supporting renovation and facility improvement projects, mentoring other maintenance technicians, and ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Working under the direction of the Executive of Maintenance & Project Completion, the Lead Center Maintenance Technician performs advanced maintenance duties while helping prioritize work, coordinate projects, and provide technical guidance to other maintenance staff. This role plays a key part in maintaining operational excellence across all Early Years locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial building, facilities, or maintenance experience
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, flooring, and general building maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and independently perform repairs
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required
  • Must be able to pass all required background checks
  • Must be drug-free

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school, technical certification, or equivalent maintenance experience preferred
  • Previous experience leading projects or mentoring maintenance personnel preferred
  • Experience coordinating vendors and contractors preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead maintenance technician for assigned Early Years locations.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to other maintenance technicians.
  • Assist the Executive of Maintenance & Project Completion with scheduling, prioritizing, and coordinating maintenance activities.
  • Promote consistency in maintenance standards, safety practices, and quality workmanship across all centers.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new maintenance staff.
  • Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across assigned centers.
  • Complete maintenance requests including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring, fixtures, and equipment repairs.
  • Ensure classrooms, playgrounds, kitchens, offices, and common areas remain safe, clean, and fully operational.
  • Maintain building systems and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Respond quickly to emergency maintenance situations.
  • Lead renovation projects, classroom build-outs, facility upgrades, and improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate project activities with Center Directors, contractors, and vendors.
  • Assist with project planning, timelines, material organization, and completion schedules.
  • Perform demolition preparation, framing, painting, flooring installation, furniture assembly, fixture installation, and classroom setup.
  • Ensure renovation projects are completed safely with minimal disruption to center operations.
  • Support expansion projects and new center openings.
  • Lead preventative maintenance efforts across all assigned centers.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues before they become costly repairs.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, repair records, and equipment documentation.
  • Recommend improvements that increase efficiency and extend equipment life.
  • Monitor facility conditions to ensure compliance with childcare licensing regulations and company safety standards.
  • Perform routine safety inspections of playgrounds, classrooms, equipment, and building systems.
  • Identify and resolve safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support preparation for licensing inspections, audits, and facility reviews.
  • Ensure OSHA and company safety procedures are followed during all maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside vendors and contractors performing maintenance or construction work.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure work meets company expectations.
  • Assist in obtaining estimates, scheduling work, and verifying project completion.
  • Report project updates and recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner with Center Directors to proactively address facility needs.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist with furniture moves, classroom setup, special events, and operational support.
  • Recommend facility improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, and appearance.
  • Travel between centers as needed to support maintenance priorities.
