About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Lead CAD Mapping Specialist to support the Energy division, new construction and design team in Houston, Texas. This role involves using CADD Civil 3D with engineering input and standards to design pipelines and create plan and profile drawings. The specialist will communicate project-specific pipeline design issues with the engineering team, take direction on design changes, import survey data and surfaces to build design basefiles, and track project design changes. The position requires performing complex CADD assignments, coordinating CADD drawing production, and making decisions based on general understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve results and meet deadlines. The Lead will also understand the implications of their work, make recommendations for solutions, determine methods and procedures for new assignments, and lead less experienced drafters by showing them how to complete complex tasks and how design changes impact drawings. They will also assist in drawing production as needed to meet project deadlines.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Engineering Design or Drafting and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • 8 years of pipeline design (plan and profile design) in Civil3D
  • 8 years pipeline horizontal direction drill design
  • 8 years of IFB/IFC pipeline alignment sheet plan and profile drawing creation
  • 5+ years of pipeline typical drawings and permit drawing creation
  • 8 years working with civil survey data for pipeline design
  • Layer management and editing symbology
  • Creating map templates and sheet frames
  • Familiarity with data shortcuts
  • Creating and editing surfaces and surface profiles
  • Reading survey points and point groups
  • Working with offset alignments
  • Creating KMZs and exporting shapefiles
  • Handling XREFs and large basefiles

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience utilizing Blue Sky Lightning Alignment Sheet Cutter Software.
  • Knowledge of Arcmap GIS Mapping and Analysis Software.
  • Previous experience leading and/or mentoring less experienced mappers.
