About The Position

The AV Lead Technician helps bring a project into reality by overseeing the entire installation process. They work closely with, and alongside our AV Technicians to ensure that each system install runs smoothly by collaborating with our Project Coordinator and Client Site Contact. An AV Lead Technician is someone who has a passion for leading and training people and is driven to get the job done the right way. This is also someone who is capable of multitasking while still staying on target to accomplish daily goals and task lists. Even though care is taken to design full AV systems beforehand, adaptability and problem-solving skills are a must. Not everything goes according to plan, and we need someone who is able to roll with the punches and figure out how to get it done, even if the solution isn’t nice and neatly laid out in front of them. They must consistently achieve high quality results and maintain top notch client service and communication.

Requirements

  • CTS and/or CTS-I Certification Preferred
  • 5+ years in general Commercial AV or similar IT-related experience preferred
  • Two or more Audio DSP Platform Certifications Required (Ex. Extron, QSYS, AMX, Crestron, etc)
  • Video Processing Platform Configuration Experience Required (Ex. Novastar, RGB, DataPath, Extron, SVSI Planar, MXNET)
  • Two or more Control System Platform Certifications Required (Ex. Extron, QSYS, Dante, Biamp, ClearOne, AMX, Crestron, etc)
  • Rack building experience including following CAD designs and AV Line/Wiring Diagrams
  • Capable of commissioning software configurations and final systems checks
  • Help desk/troubleshooting experience is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Performs any service calls and installations assigned by AV Lead Technician; assists in sales and customer facing meetings as needed and reports all customer complaints to management for follow up
  • Inspects and tests equipment to locate and repair problems; assists other AV Team members in troubleshooting audiovisual or network related issues
  • Recommends changes in installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance
  • Demonstrates use of equipment to customers following installation or repair and checks function of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions
  • Sends email reports to Project Coordinator detailing work done in connection with installation or repair
  • Reads technical manuals to learn correct settings for equipment and continues to develop knowledge and skills pertaining to audiovisual and network technical support.
  • Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems to clarify design details and functional criteria of units and assembles complete prototype system if scheduling allows.
  • Communicates with the Project Coordinator concerning delays, unsafe sites, accidents, equipment breakdowns and other maintenance problems.
  • Highly organized, punctual, and capable of effective, efficient multi-tasking.
