About The Position

The Lead Automotive Detailer/Lot Porter works in an automotive dealership service department and supports the repair center by detailing and cleaning vehicles, inspecting completed repairs, moving customers and vehicles, and maintaining the detail area and grounds. The role uses machinery, equipment, and chemicals and is based in a normal shop environment, with work both indoors and outdoors. The position pays a base hourly wage of $22.00 to $25.00 and may include an individual or team production bonus. The bonus can range from $0.00 when baseline benchmarks are not met, with no fixed upper limit.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance.
Ability to drive vehicles with both automatic and manual transmissions.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds.
Visual acuity sufficient to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of assigned work.

Responsibilities

Thoroughly detail and clean vehicles before final delivery or return to customers.
Pre-wash vehicles before repairs begin and, when needed, wash vehicles during the estimating process to help identify damage.
Visually inspect vehicles for flaws in repaired areas.
Shuttle customers and vehicles to appropriate locations.
Assist with general maintenance of the repair center and outside grounds.
Assist with scanning vehicles when required.
Use required safety equipment, follow hazardous-waste disposal requirements, and participate in monthly safety meetings.
Maintain detail-department tools and equipment, keep the work area organized, and return tools, materials, and equipment to designated areas.
Perform other duties as required to meet business needs.
