Part Time Lead Assistant Manager, Payment Services
About The Position
The Lead Assistant Manager, Payment Services is responsible for reviewing medical records to ensure accurate assignment of Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) codes and appropriate billing practices. This role involves exposure to multiple specialties, identifying discrepancies and potential fraud in coding and billing, and analyzing trends to identify areas for improvement. The position also requires collaboration with stakeholders, providing education to coding staff and providers, preparing audit reports, and assisting in the development of policies and procedures to support accurate coding and billing.
Requirements
- Experience with Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) codes.
- Knowledge of appropriate billing practices.
- Experience in multi-specialty coding (podiatry, musculoskeletal, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, internal medicine).
- Ability to identify discrepancies, errors, or potential fraud in coding and billing.
- Skills in analyzing coding trends and patterns.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
- Experience providing feedback and education on coding and documentation guidelines.
- Experience preparing audit reports.
- Knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures for coding and billing.
Responsibilities
- Review medical records to ensure accurate assignment of Ambulatory payment classification (APC) codes and appropriate billing practices.
- Identify discrepancies, errors or potential fraud in coding and billing practices.
- Analyze coding trends and patterns to identify areas for improvement or potential risks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address coding and billing issues and improve documentation practices.
- Provide feedback and education to coding staff, providers on coding guidelines, documentation guidelines and regulatory changes.
- Prepare audit reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and suggesting corrective and preventative actions.
- Stay current with updates to coding guidelines, regulations and industry best practices.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures and tools to support accurate coding and billing practices.
