About The Position

BME Fire Trucks is seeking an experienced Lead Assembly Technicians to lead one of our Assembly Teams. As Lead Assembly Technician you will be a vital part of building BME Fire Apparatus in a fast-paced factory environment. This role offers you the opportunity to apply your mechanical, electrical, and plumbing knowledge and hands-on skills to assembly components efficiently and accurately. Requirements

  • Background in automotive or diesel mechanics.
  • Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly as well as climb stairs/ladders
  • Excellent diagnostic skills
  • Ability to use plasma torch
  • Experience with hand and power tools
  • Experience with DOT airline fittings, PTO gear boxes, drivelines
  • Hands on experience with impacts, drills, plasma torches, magnetic drills
  • Proficiently use pneumatic or battery powered hand tools (ex. drilling, grinding, reciprocating saws)
  • Ability to perform plumbing and welding functions
  • Understanding of electrical principles
  • Understanding of electrical circuits
  • 12-volt experience
  • Mechanical Assembly experience
  • Able to work cooperatively with others as a team and with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Water pumps, bumpers, rear steps, etc
  • Preparing pipe for plumbing installation including cutting and threading
  • Performing hydrostatic leak and vacuum tests and recording results
  • Repairing any identified leaks
  • Installing plastic/rubber pneumatic gauge tubing and making connections
  • Fitting and installing pump panel and mechanical linkages
  • Performing tack-welding for pipe and bracketry
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and 3D drawing models
  • Creating custom fabrication, such as brackets and pipe routing
  • Designing and fabricating equipment brackets and wire harnesses
  • Emergency console buildouts
  • Installation of Emergency lighting packages
  • Multi-plex systems
  • OEM Interface and programming
  • Install and connect various electric wiring systems.
  • Install rough electric conduct and boxes according to blueprints.
  • Pull wires and harnesses through chassis or body.
