About The Position

Thomson Reuters is hiring a Lead AI Experience Engineer to build the experience layer connecting people, AI agents, and operational data within its AI Operations and Automation (AIOps) function. This internal role is part of Service Management and Transformation in the CIO segment of the Technology organization. The role is based in the Dallas, Texas office and follows a hybrid work model. The engineer will define how AI agents exchange information and how that information is presented to engineers. They will design and build interactive, real-time visualizations that make operational telemetry understandable, including what is happening, why it is happening, what automated systems have done, and what still requires human attention. The role owns the experience end to end, from prototypes to production tools. The position combines dynamic data-visualization engineering, applied AI, and UI/UX design. It includes setting technical and architectural direction for the experience layer, mentoring engineers and designers, and collaborating with AIOps, Service Data and Insights, Configuration and Topology, Workflow Engineering, and the Global Command Center. The role has a clear focus on building tools for internal users such as site reliability and platform engineers, service managers, and operational leaders.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience designing and building software.
  • Experience with data-rich, user-facing products, hands-on applied AI or agentic work, and setting technical direction for others.
  • A degree in computer science, human-computer interaction, design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep experience in two of the following areas and fluency in the third: front-end and data-visualization engineering, applied AI, and UI/UX design.
  • Ability to structure dense information so users can find important details efficiently.
  • Experience grounding design decisions in research with real users, including interviews, task analysis, and usability testing.
  • Experience shipping interactive data visualizations in JavaScript or TypeScript, using React and tools such as D3.js, WebGL, or Canvas.
  • Hands-on experience with large language models and agentic systems, including tool calling, retrieval, and emerging agent interoperability protocols such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A).
  • Experience designing APIs, SDKs, and schemas, including REST or GraphQL, JSON Schema, and typed data contracts.
  • Ability to read telemetry and understand what engineers need during an incident and in a subsequent review.
  • Product judgment, comfort working in ambiguity, and ability to determine what to build and what to leave out.

Nice To Haves

  • Observability or IT operations experience across metrics, logs, traces, and events, or experience with platforms such as ServiceNow Event Management, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Splunk.
  • Experience with graph and network visualization, streaming data, or time-series work at scale.
  • Design-system and accessibility experience, including WCAG.
  • A portfolio of work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer interactive, real-time visualizations of operational data, including topology and dependency graphs, event and alert streams, incident timelines, and predictive signals.
  • Define interfaces and data contracts that enable AI agents to exchange structured, verifiable information and provide it to engineers in an inspectable form.
  • Make automated L0 actions visible by showing what the system did, why it acted, and its confidence, enabling engineers to supervise machine decisions.
  • Lead UI/UX and information architecture, researching responder workflows and determining what users need to see and when.
  • Turn ambiguous problems into working prototypes quickly and develop promising ideas into production tools.
  • Set technical standards and architectural direction for the experience layer, and mentor engineers and designers.
  • Partner with AIOps, Service Data and Insights, Configuration and Topology, Workflow Engineering, and the Global Command Center.
  • Develop shared components, guidelines, and working prototypes for broader organizational use.
