About The Position

Thomson Reuters is hiring a Lead AI Experience Engineer in Service Management and Transformation, within the CIO segment of its Technology organization. The role will build the experience layer where people and AI agents interact with operational data, helping engineers and service leaders understand system conditions, automated decisions, and actions requiring human attention. The position is hybrid and based in the Dallas, Texas office. The engineer will combine dynamic data visualization, applied AI, and UI/UX to define how AI agents exchange structured information and present it to engineers. They will design and build interactive, real-time visualizations of operational telemetry, including system topology and dependencies, event and alert streams, incident timelines, and predictive signals. The role owns the experience from research and prototyping through production tools, and sets the technical direction and shared patterns for the experience layer. The role partners with AIOps and other service and engineering teams, and mentors engineers and designers. The position is intended for a hands-on builder who can work through ambiguity, ground decisions in user research, and make complex operational systems understandable. The role supports internal users including the Global Command Center, site reliability and platform engineers, service managers, and organizational leaders. The job description calls for 8+ years designing and building software, including user-facing data-rich products, applied AI or agentic work, and setting technical direction. A degree in computer science, human-computer interaction, design, or a related field is required, or equivalent experience. The base compensation range for eligible U.S. locations is $137,100–$254,700 USD. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus based on enterprise and individual performance.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years designing and building software, including data-rich, user-facing products, hands-on applied AI or agentic work, and experience setting technical direction for others.
  • A degree in computer science, human-computer interaction, design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep experience in two of the following areas and fluency in the third: front-end and data-visualization engineering, applied AI, and UI/UX design.
  • Experience structuring dense information so users can find relevant information efficiently.
  • Experience grounding design decisions in user research, including interviews, task analysis, and usability testing.
  • Experience shipping interactive data visualization in JavaScript or TypeScript using React and tools such as D3.js, WebGL, or Canvas.
  • Hands-on familiarity with large language models and agentic systems, including tool calling, retrieval, and agent interoperability protocols such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A).
  • Experience designing programmable interfaces, including APIs, SDKs, schemas, REST or GraphQL, JSON Schema, and typed data contracts.
  • Ability to read operational telemetry and understand what engineers need during an incident versus in a post-incident review.
  • Product judgment: ability to focus on engineers’ problems, work in ambiguity, and decide what to build and what to leave out.

Nice To Haves

  • Observability or IT operations experience involving metrics, logs, traces, and events, or platforms such as ServiceNow Event Management, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Splunk.
  • Experience with graph and network visualization, streaming data, or time-series work at scale.
  • Design-system and accessibility experience, including WCAG.
  • A portfolio of work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer interactive, real-time views of operational data, including topology and dependency graphs, event and alert streams, incident timelines, and predictive signals.
  • Define interfaces and data contracts that enable AI agents to exchange structured, verifiable information and present it to engineers in an inspectable and challengeable form.
  • Make automated L0 resolutions visible, including what the system did, why it acted, and its confidence, so engineers can supervise machine decisions.
  • Lead UI/UX and information architecture by researching responder workflows, identifying what information users need and when, shaping interaction models, and simplifying complex systems.
  • Turn ambiguous problems into working prototypes quickly and harden successful ideas into production tools.
  • Set technical direction and standards for the experience layer, make architectural decisions, and mentor engineers and designers.
  • Partner with AIOps, Service Data and Insights, Configuration and Topology, Workflow Engineering, and the Global Command Center.
  • Develop shared components, guidelines, and working prototypes for organization-wide use.
  • Design and publish agent-to-agent data contracts and demonstrate them with agents working together in production.
  • Replace line-by-line operational reports with interactive views that help teams find answers quickly.
