About The Position

The LDCE Student Intern serves as Gannon University’s first point of contact with our first-year students as well as helps support engagement across the university. As a representative of Gannon University, LDCE Student Interns will be expected to enhance the student experience by promoting learning and development through engagement, fostering community among small groups, and encouraging a culture of dialogue and understanding.

Requirements

  • Completed and participated in a past August leadership training program
  • Enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student
  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Able to be self-sufficient in assigned tasks, as well as collaborate effectively in a new community of professional and peer staff
  • Able to uphold and support the Gannon University Mission
  • Eligible to work in the United States with no restrictions

  • Use personal strengths to lead orientation sessions and meet the goals of the program.
  • Effectively exchange information, ideas, facts, and perspectives with new students and their family members.
  • Demonstrate effective work habits and act in the interest of the larger community and workplace.
  • Work with other interns, transition guides, and professional staff and build and maintain relationships to work towards a common goal and shared responsibilities.
  • Problem solve and/or respond to student and family needs based upon an understanding of situational context.
  • Actively help make orientation and welcome week events inclusive and accessible events while also understanding and demonstrating awareness of differences.
  • Use a variety of platforms and technologies to complete tasks such as Outlook, VisitDays, Excel, Guidebook, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a peer mentor during the transition process by supporting our students holistically, communicating information and connecting them to university resources.
  • Model a positive attitude and growth mindset when portraying Gannon University’s programs, policies & procedures.
  • Assist with setup and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Be fully present, engaged, and committed to the August leadership training program.
