Position Purpose: The Space Planning Store Layout Designer is responsible for the development of all store stocking merchandising layouts relative to category space allocation, category adjacencies, store flow and overall presentation while incorporating Albertsons Companies strategies for sales and profits Development and maintenance of multi- department merchandising layouts for new stores, remodels and other projects where store layouts are affected, for multiple retail divisions. Work in conjunction with the Albertsons Construction and Design department to develop fixture layouts optimizing use of space in an effort to achieve stated merchandising objectives for the various business groups. Execution of corporate and division category merchandising strategies within SPHQ store layout software based on stated merchandising recommendations, for optimal in-aisle and in-store flows necessary to achieve the category, department, and company strategic sales and growth objectives. Update and maintain aisle adjacencies, section configurations, and optimal traffic flow throughout the store, from division detailed category business plans, keeping store clusters and demographics top of mind. Revise merchandising layouts and other assignment drawings utilizing e-mapping software.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred along with merchandising mapping experience.
  • 3 to 5 years plus the education listed above.
  • Knowledge of all internal store layout designs.
  • Knowledge of category management processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction and store design.
  • Strong PC skills and working knowledge of internal Albertsons systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of CAD based software systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Considerable initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Team oriented with excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Customer service oriented with ability to maintain positive attitude in all situations.
  • Multitask oriented and able to act as a liaison between multiple corporate departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Store level merchandising and Merchandise planning experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • Category management knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute proposed stocking plans to Division merchandising management for feedback and recommendations.
  • Validate feedback and revise stocking plans as needed.
  • Distribute final stocking plans to Division Reset Managers for execution.
  • Provide Division Management with final resolution of all recommended changes to stocking plans.
  • Maintain an ongoing review of center store space allocation by division/department; section sizes, priorities/roles as categories evolve/grow/shrink.
  • Communicate center store space allocation changes to the Division Reset Managers.
  • Ensure company objectives for product presentation, assortment, adjacencies are achieved.
  • Ensure all necessary fixtures are utilized accordingly with the merchandising layout.
  • Maintain Albertsons fixture standards regarding aesthetics, safety, durability, and flexibility.
  • Maintain Albertsons footage minimum and maximum space requirements for frozen/refrigerated space and set guidelines for Corporate Construction/Design.
  • Partner with Corporate Construction to identify potential cost savings, and elimination of unnecessary fixtures.
  • Maintain and execute all updates to the e-Mapping tool.
  • Adding and deleting fixtures to match what is currently used in the stores.
  • Conduct all software testing as required by I.T. to maintain and enhance the e-Mapping software tools.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support for all division users of the e-Mapping tool.
