CANDU Energy Inc./AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. is actively seeking a qualified Senior Mechanical Designer to support engineering roles for nuclear projects in major areas, such as, new build in the province of Ontario, international new builds, refurbishment, and continuous plant operation support modifications for nuclear power plants. This position requires working on fast paced technically complex projects in the nuclear industries. Typical duties and essential functions will include but not be limited to the preparation, design, modification, coordination, and/or review of the following: Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD; Sketching, three-dimensional computer modeling, drawings and construction documents. Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure compliance. Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements. Coordinate 3D models between disciplines and construction teams to ensure seamless integration and minimize clashes. Revise existing drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) from fairly detailed verbal or written instructions, and/or marked up drawings. Develop mechanical equipment and piping layout designs, ensuring safe, accessible, and maintainable configurations. Assist in developing designs and technical specifications for systems such as Heating, Air conditioning, Ventilation, boilers, plumbing, chilled water, building controls, along with other related systems.
