About The Position

The Children's Law Center (CLC) is a nonprofit legal services organization representing children in custody, visitation, guardianship, paternity, family offense, and related child protective proceedings in New York Family Courts and the Integrated Domestic Violence Parts of the State Supreme Court, as well as in appeals. CLC represents approximately 5,000 children each year in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island, providing representation and support in court, the community, and the legislature. Its mission is to empower clients, prevent trauma, and promote wellbeing. CLC seeks enthusiastic and hardworking legal interns for its Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens offices for summer 2027. Interns will learn about the areas of law in which CLC practices, including custody, visitation, domestic violence, and abuse and neglect. They will gain hands-on experience assisting staff in advocacy for child clients. Each intern will be paired with a mentor and receive close supervision and training. The summer program runs June 7 through August 13 and follows a full-time, hybrid schedule from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CLC encourages students to seek law school fellowships and other external funding to support their internships. Limited stipends may be available to students unable to secure alternative funding, subject to available resources. CLC is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive and equitable work environment and equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on the listed protected characteristics.
