About The Position

Strategic Legal Practices is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our litigation team. This role is specifically designed for recent law school graduates who have passed the California Bar. Whether you passed last cycle or are awaiting your swear-in, we want to hear from you. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop real litigation skills alongside experienced attorneys at one of California’s largest consumer protection firms, with a clear path toward attorney-level responsibilities. Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Passed the California Bar (recently admitted or pending swear-in welcome)
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills developed through law school
  • Familiarity with civil litigation procedures, court rules, and deadlines in state and federal courts (coursework or clinic experience counts)
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail
  • High degree of self-accountability and ownership of assignments
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients, attorneys, court clerks, and opposing counsel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with document management or time-tracking software is a plus
  • Prior experience at a litigation law firm (internship, law clerk, or paralegal role)
  • Exposure to Lemon Law, consumer protection, or civil litigation matters
  • Experience with state and federal court e-filing systems
  • Familiarity with case management or time-tracking software

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial case assessments and factual investigations
  • Draft legal documents including complaints, declarations, discovery requests and responses, and other pleadings
  • Gather and analyze statutes, case law, legal articles, court opinions, and other relevant data
  • Investigate facts and search public records and other resources
  • Assemble case materials by collecting, organizing, and summarizing documents, reports, and evidence
  • Assist with preparation, filing, and service of pleadings in State and Federal Courts, including e-filing
  • Format and finalize legal documents as directed
  • Create Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities
  • Assist in deposition and trial preparation
  • Prepare trial briefs, exhibits, subpoenas, evidence summaries, and motions
  • Provide support before and during court proceedings
  • Calendar and track all case deadlines
  • Organize and maintain client files
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court clerks, and opposing counsel
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain the highest ethical standards at all times
  • Perform other legal, administrative, and special projects as assigned
