About The Position

Under the general supervision of Counsel, the Law Clerk will research law, investigate facts and prepare documents for the department and perform essential duties and responsibilities. The Law Clerk will research and prepare memorandums that will assist the legal department in its role to advise the company of relevant legal risks and regulatory updates. The Law Clerk will have an interest in employment and labor law.

Requirements

  • 1st year law student (minimum)
  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies will also be considered
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze law sources such as statues, regulations, agency advisories and legal codes.
  • Review and prepare legal documents such as contracts, sweepstakes and contest rules, and memoranda.
  • Communicate with state alcohol agencies, Offices of the Attorneys General, and Offices of the Secretaries of State.
  • Responsible for researching, analyzing, and summarizing Federal and State alcohol regulations.
  • Responsible for preparing legal summaries and memorandum that can be easily understood by employees outside of the Legal Department.
  • Responsible for staying apprised of legislative updates to alcohol regulations.
  • Responsible for providing risk guidance and mitigation strategies discovered through research into alcohol legislation.
  • Tasked with creating and assisting in presentations to the sales and marketing teams.
  • Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and drafting various contracts.
  • Responsible for updating legal guidelines and other resources that are provided to the commercial and non-commercial departments.
  • Advising Counsel, General Counsel, and other management on updated regulations and policies.
  • Updating research databases and interdepartmental guidance based on changing regulations and laws.
  • Work directly with sales and marketing team on various promotional projects, including sweepstakes, contests, rebates, and coupons.
  • Assist with initial trademark searches and vetting.
