The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is the largest unified trial court in the United States, serving over 10 million residents across 4,084 square miles. The Court's 582 judicial officers and over 4,600 full-time employees work to provide equal access to justice. Law Clerks conduct legal research, analyze motions and other matters on calendar to expedite court calendars, prepare written recommendations, and perform related duties as assigned. Law clerks may be employed for a limited term of up to 30 months, with formal performance appraisals at 12, 24, and 30 months. Law Clerks are prohibited from practicing law, receiving legal fees, or representing a party as counsel during their employment. Other outside employment requires advance approval. Employment is 'at will.'
