This role involves working alongside leading legal professionals to support financial services transactions. Requirements

  • Minimum 5-8 years of progressive experience as a law clerk, with specific experience in banking, in-house financial services, or corporate law.
  • A Law Clerk Diploma or Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in corporate law procedures, PPSA, and relevant financial legislation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and prioritize multiple competing tasks
  • High proficiency in using technology and ability to adapt to change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A team player who also works well independently
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Disciplined execution and follow-through; excellent time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with legal professionals at the Firm on various financial services transactions
  • Conduct Personal Property Security Act (“PPSA”) searches and registrations across Canada
  • Provide transactional support to legal professionals at the Firm, including managing closing agendas and deliverables, drafting corporate consents, resolutions and certificates, assisting with the execution and closing of financing transactions, and preparing closing records
  • Organize and maintain client files and records using the Firm’s document management system
  • Serve as a key point of contact, liaising with internal legal counsel, business units, clients, external lenders, and regulatory authorities
  • Manage competing requests and meet deadlines while protecting confidential and sensitive data in compliance with Firm security protocols
  • Assist with the implementation, maintenance and improvement of new technologies for financial services transactions, as appropriate
  • Contribute to the continued design and improvement of our enhanced service delivery model for clients
  • Undertake projects and other responsibilities on an as-needed basis
