About The Position

The Laundry Technician performs day-to-day tasks to maintain a clean environment in a healthcare organization. The role may be performed independently or as part of a team and involves safely handling laundry using appropriate equipment, methods, techniques, chemical applications, and water temperatures. Duties vary by location and follow its standard processes and policies, as well as infection-prevention guidelines and healthcare laundry standards. The position may require working hours that vary according to patient needs, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and call or backup call.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Depending on location, a valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to use a computer.
• Prior cleaning experience in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods used in cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Follow infection-prevention guidelines when handling contaminated laundry and comply with organizational and healthcare industrial laundry standards.
• Collect and sort laundry and handle, store, and distribute clean laundry according to local processes and policies.
• Depending on location, collect dirty linens and personal clothing from wards, rooms, and medical offices and distribute clean, disinfected linens.
• Depending on location, wash, dry, and fold linens; sort and fold clothing; and label items appropriately.
• Depending on location, store and secure healthcare laundry supplies and equipment.
• Use or wear the required personal protective equipment.
