About The Position

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for operating laundry equipment and ensuring all hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and related items are cleaned, processed, and delivered in a timely and efficient manner. This role supports housekeeping and overall hotel operations by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and inventory readiness. This position operates in a fast-paced, physically active environment with continuous movement, repetitive tasks, and exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting and moving laundry carts (often 25–50 lbs or more), and working flexible shifts that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to maintain efficiency in a production-driven environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of laundry carts (25–50 lbs. or more).
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements include folding, sorting, and loading/unloading machines.
  • Ability to work in warm, humid, and high-moisture environments.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and detergents in a controlled environment.
  • Continuous physical activity throughout the work shift.
  • Strong time management and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Sort soiled linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items by type, color, and cleaning requirements.
  • Operate commercial washers, dryers, and pressing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Load and unload laundry machines while ensuring proper handling of all materials.
  • Add appropriate detergents, chemicals, and cleaning agents according to established procedures.
  • Inspect linens for stains, damage, or wear and report items requiring replacement.
  • Fold, press, hang, and package clean laundry items according to hotel standards.
  • Ensure all items meet cleanliness and quality expectations prior to distribution.
  • Maintain accurate records of laundry processed and items distributed.
  • Deliver clean linens and uniforms to housekeeping and designated storage areas.
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking linen inventory levels and supply needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry facility and equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures for handling chemicals and operating machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel sanitation, safety, and operational standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly to management.
  • Assist housekeeping and hotel teams with linen-related needs as required.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding production flow and supply needs.
  • Support efficient daily operations through teamwork and reliability.
