About The Position

Schowalter Villa is seeking a full-time Laundry Associate. The position’s hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The role is primarily responsible for washing, drying, folding, ironing, and delivering clean clothing and linens to specified areas. The Laundry Associate may also mend items when requested and clean assigned areas on designated days. The role involves operating commercial laundry equipment, using laundry chemicals safely and correctly, following special washing instructions, maintaining an orderly work area, and securing the area at the end of each shift. Some weekend and holiday work may be scheduled.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.

Nice To Haves

• Three or more years of prior experience in institutional cleaning.
• Prior experience working as a team leader.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial washers and dryers and use laundry equipment and chemicals correctly.
• Refill automatic machine chemical dispensers as needed and use appropriate amounts of detergents, bleach, and other cleaners.
• Clean machines and empty dryer vents twice daily.
• Check machine chemicals daily and record water temperatures.
• Notify the supervisor when machinery needs repair.
• Wash and dry clothing, selecting appropriate water and drying temperatures for each fabric type.
• Follow nurses’ washing instructions for residents with special needs, including skin conditions.
• Pre-treat, spot-clean, or soak clothing when necessary.
• Pick up and sort laundry, including collecting laundry from residents and sorting it by color, material, and water-temperature requirements.
• Fold or hang laundry and place clothing on delivery carts according to the departmental identification system.
• Deliver clothing and linens to the appropriate locations and residents.
• Mend items when requested.
• Keep the work area neat and organized; sweep floors and clean the area at the end of the day.
• Shut down machines, turn off lights, and lock all doors before leaving at the end of the shift.
• Clean assigned areas on designated days.
