About The Position

We are looking for a dependable full-time Laundry and Housekeeping Attendant. This position processes washable laundry for residents and for the facility. They will also perform housekeeping duties throughout our facilities. Other important information is as follows: 32 hours per week Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds 6:30am - 8:00am start time Work every other weekend Starting Pay: Base rate of $16.50 per hour. We also pay a weekend differential for hours worked on the weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Work according to the Laundry Safety Program.
  • Receive and mark facility or resident's articles for laundry, using hand or machine markers.
  • Start washers, dryers and turn valves or levers to regulate machine processes and the volume of detergent, water and other additives.
  • Sort articles removed from dryers and fold or hang them.
  • Examine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to color, fabric, dirt content and cleaning technique required.
  • Load articles into washers or dryers.
  • Clean machine filters and maintain equipment.
  • Remove items from washers or dryers.
  • Inspect soiled articles to identify items requiring special treatment.
  • Collect and transport soiled linens and clothing to the laundry.
  • Identify personal clothing that needs repair.
  • Sort soiled linens and prepare carts for pick up by external laundry service.
  • Unload clean linens from delivery carts of external laundry service, place on carts for transport to storage areas.
  • Transport linens to nursing units and stock linen cupboards with needed items.
  • Sort personal laundry onto carts and racks and deliver to correct nursing unit.
  • Monitor inventory and assure ordering of additional items needed.
  • Evaluate new products and participate in decisions about use.
  • Work according to the Housekeeping Safety Program.
  • Follow housekeeping schedules, assignments and procedures.
  • Clean resident rooms, hallways, entrances, lobbies, common spaces, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, employee lounges, and other work areas so that cleanliness and health standards are met.
  • Carry cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.
  • Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Dust in resident rooms, pictures in the hallways, TV's, and shelves.
  • Sweep and wet mop floors.
  • Clean carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners.
  • Wash inside of windows and woodwork.
  • Hang draperies and dust window blinds.
  • Disinfect surfaces, equipment and supplies, using disinfectant/germicidal products.
  • Observe precautions required to protect resident and facility property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
  • Request repair services promptly.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Water plants. Trim plants and dispose flower arrangements.
  • Utilize cleaning equipment and products according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Replenish disinfectant/germicidal and cleaning products, soap, hand sanitizer and lotion in dispensers.
  • Fill paper towel dispensers.
  • Follow checklists of tasks and precautions posted to prevent the spread of infection.
