About The Position

The Laundry Aide assists with washing and finishing laundry as assigned. The role performs tasks according to the supervisor’s daily assignment schedule and follows established instructions and procedures in the clean processing area and while handling soiled linen. The aide also communicates tactfully with residents and patients, follows universal precautions and departmental chemical-use practices, attends required meetings and in-service programs, and performs other duties as required.

Requirements

Education: Less than high school.
Experience: On-the-job training.
Ability to read and follow instructions.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Prolonged and extensive standing and walking.
Manual dexterity and mobility.
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

Responsibilities

Perform tasks according to the daily assignment schedule prepared by the supervisor.
Sort, fold, shake, and press items according to instructions and prescribed procedures in the clean processing area.
Assist with sorting soiled linen under the direction of the washman or sorter.
Finish clean linen by mangling according to established procedures.
Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, or questionable matter to the supervisor.
Communicate effectively and tactfully with residents and patients, recognizing their age, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
Attend meetings as required and participate in in-service programs.
Understand and follow universal precautions and departmental chemical-use practices.
Perform other duties as required.
