About The Position

Moog is hiring a Lathe Machinist for its Military Aircraft Group at its Buffalo, New York, site. The role involves setting up and operating CNC and/or manual lathes to produce precision components with tight tolerances, fine finishes, and complex geometry for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. The machinist works with a team focused on craftsmanship, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information and enrollment and participation in Moog’s FAA Drug & Alcohol Program because the work is subject to FAA Safety Sensitive Work regulations. The role offers a $3,500 sign-on bonus and a 10% shift differential for second- and third-shift employees. The posted hourly salary range for Buffalo, NY is $22.00–$37.00; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and performance.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist.
• Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances, typically .001 +/- .0005, when machining precision parts.
• Enroll in and participate in the company’s FAA Drug & Alcohol Program, as required for FAA Safety Sensitive Work.
• If not holding a high school diploma or GED, demonstrate the ability to understand and apply verbal, written, and computer work instructions or training in English, and perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run parts on a CNC lathe with milling capabilities, meeting close tolerances and producing fine finishes and complex geometry.
• Inspect all work performed, set up or adjust gaging equipment, and detect unusual conditions or deviant parts.
• Recognize errors in blueprints and operation sheets when needed.
• Interpret complex drawings, including GD&T blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets.
