About The Position

The Laser Operator plays a critical role in our production process by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting CNC laser-cutting equipment to ensure high-quality parts are produced safely and efficiently. This hands-on role requires technical skill, accuracy, attention to detail, and experience working with metal fabrication equipment. As a Laser Operator, you will support our commitment to world-class quality and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience operating CO2 or Fiber CNC laser-cutting machines (Cincinnati or Mitsubishi preferred but not required).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and flat print drawings.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Knowledge of CNC processes and metal fabrication concepts.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, tape measures, calipers, basic hand tools, and air tools.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move 25 lbs, frequently lift/move 50 lbs, and occasionally lift/move 100 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Align and secure materials on the laser cutting table.
  • Load and interpret CAD files or other design inputs into the machine interface.
  • Adjust machine settings such as power, speed, and focus according to material type and thickness.
  • Operate CNC laser equipment to cut or engrave parts to precise specifications.
  • Inspect completed components to ensure compliance with dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Make machine adjustments to maintain consistent, high-quality output.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and ensure the laser machine is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Clean lenses, nozzles, and other components to prevent buildup and maintain laser integrity.
  • Conduct or schedule routine maintenance such as lens changes and alignment checks.
  • Ensure safety barriers, enclosures, and ventilation systems are functioning properly.
  • Monitor fume extraction systems for proper airflow and filtration.
  • Track material usage and handle materials safely to prevent damage or waste.
  • Maintain accurate job logs, including deviations, issues, and material usage.
  • Document maintenance activities and any machine downtime.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine errors or operational issues.
  • Adjust cutting parameters based on material properties to achieve desired results.
  • Follow all safety policies, quality standards, and production expectations.
  • Train other employees as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
