About The Position

The Laser Operator is responsible for operating laser cutting machinery to produce parts according to job specifications. This role involves programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining the laser cutting equipment, as well as performing quality checks and assisting with related tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or two to three years related experience.
Computer understanding.
Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to train and work with others (Team Concept).
Reliability.

Responsibilities

Read job orders to determine machine programming requirements.
Set up machine parameters and power settings.
Call up part numbers from the computer to program the machine.
Load steel into the machine to cut parts.
Check parts against blueprints using various measuring devices to determine accuracy.
Perform part verifications.
Perform routine machine maintenance.
Perform simple laser programming.
Troubleshoot problems and adjust the machine as necessary.
Assist Steel Shed Coordinator with unloading and receiving material, and ordering supplies.
Instruct laser take-off operators.
Assist with scheduling of nests.
Schedule machine maintenance with the Maintenance Department.
Cross-train Laser take-off and Laser Operator II employees as assigned by Supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
