About The Position

Operates a computer-controlled laser cutting machine, reading blueprints, determining necessary settings based on material, and performing adjustments as needed. This role also involves creating inspection sheets, inspecting parts with precision equipment, documenting data, performing daily and weekly maintenance on laser cutting equipment, programming using priority dispatch, and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints
• Determines gas type, nozzle size, and focus of lens based on material type and thickness
• Sets up, adjusts, and operates a computer controlled laser cutting machine
• Makes adjustments as needed
• Creates inspection sheets
• Inspects parts using precision measuring equipment and documents inspection data
• Performs daily and weekly maintenance as it relates to laser cutting equipment
• Programs using priority dispatch
• Cleans and organizes work area
