About The Position

The Laser Setup/Operator produces sheet metal parts by setting up and operating a computer numeric (CNC) Laser.

3-5 years of experience setting up CNC Lasers
Must be able to set up and operate CNC Laser to cut light gauge sheet metal
Understand machine setup including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, lens cleaning, and adjustments, etc.
Understand startup and shutdown for laser machines
Must be able to understand metal fabrication concepts and processes
Ability to edit G code
Able to use precision tools
Work from blueprints, rough sketches, and customer samples
Locate and move raw material with a pallet jack or forklift
Separate and cut parts from scrap
Work well with other employees to ensure timely and quality completion of work
Follow safety rules and maintain a clean working environment

Set up and operate the CNC Laser for sheet metal fabrication using the setup sheet and blueprint
Adjust cutting conditions as needed to obtain quality parts
Run production quantities of sheet metal parts
Ensure that all safety criteria are met
Check the accuracy of work using a blueprint and measuring tool
Work with supervisors to assist with the scheduling of jobs
Troubleshoot problems that occur while running jobs
Coordinate with other operators as needed to maximize machine run times
Performs all other duties as assigned
